Hey, it happens to all of us… myself included! 🌸 As women age, we will inevitably go through menopause or perimenopause. Perimenopause is the transitional period leading up to menopause, where a woman's hormone levels fluctuate and eventually decline.
Menopause is officially declared when a woman has gone without a menstrual period for 12 consecutive months. And the changes in the body can bring about various joys including hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. It can be no biggie to some… and wreak havoc for others! 🙈
Here are 3 tips to help support discomforts of menopause or perimenopause.
Prioritize gut health
The gut plays a crucial role in overall health and wellness, and it can also impact the severity of menopausal symptoms. The gut is home to trillions of bacteria that play an essential role in digestion and immune function.
The imbalance of these bacteria, known as gut dysbiosis, has been linked to various health issues, including menopausal symptoms. Therefore, it is important to prioritize gut health by consuming a diet rich in fiber, fermented foods, and of course, take the RIGHT formula of prebiotics and probiotics. That’s KEY.
These things can help support healthy gut bacteria and reduce the risk of gut dysbiosis. Additionally, avoiding processed foods, alcohol, and sugar can help maintain healthy gut bacteria.
Incorporate stress-reducing activities
Stress can exacerbate menopausal symptoms, making it essential to incorporate stress-reducing activities into your daily routine. This can include meditation, yoga, deep breathing, or any activity that helps you relax and unwind. Avoiding situations (or people) that cause stress or drama is also recommended (or if they’re unavoidable, learn coping mechanisms to lessen your reaction/stress around them and set boundaries whenever possible).
These activities can help reduce stress hormones such as cortisol, which can disrupt sleep and exacerbate symptoms like hot flashes. Regular exercise can also help reduce stress and promote overall health and wellness. If you have trouble sleeping at night, get an all natural sleep supplement that works!
Consider natural supplements
Various natural supplements have been shown to alleviate menopausal symptoms. Black cohosh, evening primrose oil, and red clover have been shown to reduce hot flashes and night sweats. Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish oil supplements, can help alleviate mood swings and depression associated with menopause.
In particular, I love these when taken together as a formula blend:
DIM -Diindolylmethane which helps balance good estrogen and help lessen bad estrogen that we acquire from alcohol, or by holding onto excess fat or unhealthy foods. Combined with a premium grade ginger root extract, hop flower extract, black cohosh extract, and ashwagandha, as well as a few others.
Most importantly, the delivery method. The regimen I share with my clients is morning and night supplements (the kit I recommend to my clients has capsules in the daytime & a patch in the evening) and of course specifically formulated for women in this age range, and it’s 100% vegan and CLEAN ingredients (super important, so that your body doesn’t work overtime to reject the chemicals in so many other products out there for supporting menopause challenges).
For me, personally, I always lean toward things that are:
🌼Hormone free
🌺Hormone balancing
🌱All natural
And that’s what I recommend to my clients as well!
Menopause and perimenopause are natural stages of life for women. So it is important that we understand it AND be prepared to handle it as naturally as we can. By prioritizing gut health, incorporating stress-reducing activities, and considering natural supplements, women can ease the discomforts of menopausal symptoms and improve their overall health and wellness!
