Which Herbs to Have on Hand/Grow for Natural Health: Perennials

Keep these & if you can grow them yourself, even better!

◦ Lemon balm (Zone 3)

Very relaxing.😴 An Aphrodisiac. Anxiety & depression. Great before bed. Helps break a fever. Add raw honey.

◦ Mints: peppermint, spearmint, etc (Zone 3)

Needs its own bed. Fun for kids to grow! Bees love it. 🐝 Great for headaches & tummy. All the farm animals love it. Grow it near the chicken coop.🐥 Smells good & is good for the chickens.

◦ Chives (Zone 3)

Tasty herb and excellent for pollinators! 🐝 Grows in big clumps. Insects don’t like it.

◦ Oregano (Zone 4)

“Joy of the Mountains”! Pollinators love it. 🐝 Coughing, aches, pain, toothaches, antiviral. Livestock & 🐥 love. Add dried oregano to chicken feed. Cut harvest and dry multiple times per year. Make oregano oil!

◦ Thyme (Zone 5)

“Courage". Low growing herb- plant near walkways! Pollinators love them! 🐝 🦋 Wonderful dried herb. Pain relief. Helps with cough & sore throat. Make a tea with raw honey. Use it to flavor food. Very drought tolerant.

Also... have a STEAM POT!

For congestion, steam any or all: lemon balm, peppermint, oregano, & thyme in steaming hot water and place a towel over head and inhale for 10 min. Can also add essential oils.
